A red flag procession was held to demand the salary of Khulna State-owned Alim Jute Mill

Mihir, Shilpanchal Khulna Correspondent : A human chain was held in Khulna Shilpanchal demanding termination of closed state-owned Alim Jute Mill, 84 weeks wages of retired and transferred workers and 11 months salary of employees.

A red flag procession was held on Thursday, January 08, 2021 at 11 am on the initiative of National Workers Federation Khanjahan Ali Thana Committee. The red flag procession organized by the Khanjahan Ali Thana Committee of the National Workers Federation started from the gate of Khulna State-owned Alim Jute Mill, passed through Khulna-Jessore Highway, crossed the Afil Gate bypass road and came in front of Alim Jute Mill.

Harun-ur-Rashid Mallick, vice-president of the central committee of the National Workers Federation, was present as the chief guest in the brief street meeting presided over by Md. Amirul Sardar, president of the Khanjahan Ali Thana Committee of the National Workers Federation. Also present were Alauddin Mia, vice-president of the district committee, Abdus Sattar Mollah of Bangladesh Workers Party Khanjahan Ali Thana Committee, Abdur Rashid, former general secretary of Alim Jute Mill Union, Anwar Sardar, leader of Sramik Awami League, Kamruzzaman, Zahir Khan and others.

The speakers warned that if all the dues of the workers of Alim Jute Mill are not paid by January 10, there will be a tough movement with all the workers.

The leaders of the workers’ federation announced a symbolic hunger strike at the Alim Jute Mill Gate on January 10 from 10 am to 2 pm.

Besides, the labor leaders warned that if all the money is not paid by January 10, the hunger strike will be followed by a tough program like the highway-railway program.
