Sujit Mallick, Dumuria (Khulna) Correspondent : Dumuria police conducted raids in different areas of the upazila on Saturday night and arrested five people including a Gaza seller and a convicted accused and handed them over to the court.
Dumuria Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Obaidur Rahman said the police patrol team arrested five people in the raid.
Meanwhile, Tariqul Islam Liton (25), a tenant of Golam Road in Chuknagar Bazar, was arrested along with Gaza around 8:30 pm on Saturday. He is the son of Sabuj Sheikh of Maltia village. Lytton has long been involved in the sale of Gaza. On the basis of secret information, they raided the house and detained him along with 150 grams of Gaza and a case has been registered against him under Dumuria Police Station under Narcotics Act No. 13.
On the same night, other police teams raided and arrested two convicts Abdul Salam Sardar (45) and Anwar Hossain (48). Among them Samal Sardar is the son of Afshar Sardar of Murabunia village and Anwar is the son of Badar Uddin of Baratia village.
Besides, the team arrested two persons with warrants on the same night. They are Abu Taher Fakir, 25, son of Kalam Fakir of Bhandarpara area and Palash Das, 35, son of Narayan Das of Tipna village. Among them, there are cases against Palash under check fraud and against Taher under the Women and Child Abuse Act.
