SM Hasan Ali Bachchu, Tala (Satkhira) Correspondent: A wreath-laying, rally and discussion meeting was held on the occasion of Martyred Intellectuals’ Day organized by Tala Upazila Administration. At the end of the rally, a discussion meeting was held in the hall of Tala Upazila Parishad under the chairmanship of Tala Upazila Executive Officer Prashant Kumar Biswas. Upazila Parishad Chairman Ghosh Sanath Kumar was present as the chief guest in the discussion meeting. Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer Nazmun Nahar spoke on the occasion as a special guest. Muktijoddha Md. Mofiz Uddin, Bir Muktijoddha Md. Alauddin Joarddar, Mir Zakir Hossain, Upazila Chhatra League President Milon Roy and representatives of government and non-government offices and heads of various educational institutions were present. Meanwhile, Martyred Intellectuals Day has been celebrated in Tala by Moral Foundation. On the day, a discussion meeting was held in the hall room of Shalikha College under the chairmanship of Faruk Hossain, Director of Moral Foundation. Former MP and Chief Engineer of Satkhira District Mujib Bahini Sheikh Mujibur Rahman addressed the discussion as the chief guest. Satkhira Sadar Upazila Chairman Asaduzzaman Babu, Satkhira District Awami League Adviser Bir Muktijoddha Sardar Sujat Ali, Satkhira District Awami League Education and Human Resources Secretary and Muktijoddha Sontan Commander Member Secretary Laila Parveen Senjuti, District Secretary League office secretary Harun-ur-Rashid, Upazila Awami League general secretary and upazila chairman Ghosh Sanat Kumar, district council member Mir Zakir Hossain, upazila women vice chairman Murshida Parveen Papri, former Kheshra union chairman Rajib Hossain Raju, heroic freedom fighter AH Gafur Goldar, union Awami League general secretary Abdullah-al-Mamun Taj and others. The discussion started with the national anthem and for a long time the freedom fighters of Kheshra Union commemorated the battlefield of 1971. At the end of the discussion, the chief guest handed over a memento to the freedom fighters of the union. Besides, the day has been commemorated with due respect and love by various educational institutions and non-governmental social organizations.
