Ahsan Habib, Asashuni (Satkhira) Bureau : A counter-case has been filed in Asashuni’s Khajra Union in the post-election violence and shooting incident in which 20 people including children and freedom fighters were injured. Eight people from both sides have been arrested and sent to jail in the two cases.
Ahidul Islam Mollah, a post-election defeated candidate in Gadaipur of Khajra union of the upazila on Thursday morning, January 08, 2022, has filed two cases on both sides in connection with the shooting incident in which children and freedom fighters were injured. The investigating officer said that a short gun used by Ahidul Molla, 33 rounds of fresh cartridges and shells of 18 rounds of used cartridges were seized.
Incidentally, on Thursday, January 08, 2022, at around 8 am, re-elected chairman Shah Newaz Dalim was walking from his house to the house of member candidate Ibrahim Khalil Tuku with 15/20 activists and supporters. When the defeated rebel candidate Ahidul Islam Mollah reached in front of his house, he accidentally threw bricks at them from the roof of his house. At one stage Ahidul Mollah fired at least 20/25 rounds at Dalim with a shotgun at the nominated chairman of A’League. Bakht Sardar was shot in the head, Russell (18) in the head, Asadul (35) in the head, son-in-law Hafizul (40) in the eye, Khokon Sana in the hand, Naeem Sana (22) in the leg and Imam in the half body. During the clash, heroic freedom fighter Abdur Rob Sana and heroic freedom fighter Amjad Hossain were injured by bricks thrown by the opposition and police batons. At least 20 people, including Chairman Dalim, were injured in the incident. Asashuni police officer in charge immediately after the incident. Meanwhile, supporters of Dalim’s party staged a sit-in in front of Khajra Union Parishad on Friday afternoon in anger over the arrest of Dalim and the case against him.
